About Consultations
Do I need a referral to see Dr. Cyr?
While a referral is not always required, some insurance plans may require one. We recommend checking with your insurance provider before scheduling. You can also call our office and we will help verify your coverage.
How long does a consultation take?
A typical first visit lasts 45 to 60 minutes. This allows time for a thorough review of your history, examination, and discussion of treatment options.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring any prior imaging (MRI, CT, X-ray) on disc if available, a list of current medications, your insurance card and photo ID, and any prior surgical records related to your spine.
About Surgery
Will I need surgery?
Not necessarily. Dr. Cyr explores all appropriate non-surgical options before recommending surgery. Many spine conditions can be managed with conservative treatments such as physical therapy, medication, and injections.
How long is the recovery from spine surgery?
Recovery time varies depending on the specific procedure. Minimally invasive and endoscopic procedures may allow return to daily activities within weeks, while more complex surgeries may require several months of recovery. Dr. Cyr will provide a personalized timeline based on your procedure.
Will I be in pain after surgery?
Pain management is a key part of Dr. Cyr's post-operative care plan. Most patients experience improvement in their primary symptoms shortly after surgery, though some post-surgical discomfort is normal and managed with appropriate medications.
